The Bank, which is a general sponsor of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation, honoured Anev for his prize- winning position with an additional bounty.

The General sponsor of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation, United Bulgarian Bank (UBB AD) presented Krasimir Anev with a special cheque during today’s official ceremony for closing the biathlon sports season. Thus, UBB AD honoured the best Bulgarian biathlonist for his bronze medal won during the Open European Championship, held in February this year in Bansko.

UBB AD was a major sponsor of the Biathlon Open European Championship in Bansko, as it had previously announced the amounts of cash bonuses for the Bulgarian athletes who succeeded in winning a medal in the competition.

The cheque to Krasimir Anev in the amount of BGN 3000 was presented by Mrs. Anka Kostova, Head of PR and Sponsorship Unit at UBB AD. “ We are happy that biathlon continues to rank among the most successful sports in Bulgaria and that the achievements of the Bulgarian athletes are enjoyed by millions of our countrymen. At the same time we, at UBB AD, are proud that the Bank contributes to this sport’s development and its gaining of more and more fans”, she stated.

The biathlon sports season was closed by three Olympic medalists. The official ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Physical Education and Sport – Yordan Yovchev, the Vice President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee – Yordanka Blagoeva, the Secretary General of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee – Belcho Goranov, the President of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation – Ekaterina Dafovska, sponsors and partners of the federation.

Ekaterina Dafovska especially thanked the Ministry of Physical Education and Sport, the sponsors and the partners for all their overall support throughout the years and most of all for the European Biathlon Championship in Bansko, held this year. “I would like to wish all athletes here to be healthy and to achieve their best scores during the Olympic 2014” she said.

At the event the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation presented awards to 42 athletes in 14 different age categories. A special plaque was also presented to the longtime biathlonist Martin Bogdanov, who decided that Y2013 would be the last of his sports career.
