UBB Vertical Run challenges athletes to compete in the tallest building in Sofia city centre

11 November 2019

24 floors up, 24 floors down, 1012 steps and 190 m difference in elevation - this is the unusual track, which the participants in the second edition of UBB Vertical Run have to overcome. UBB Millennium Center, with its height of 95 meters, home to the subsidiaries of KBC Group in Bulgaria, will be hosting the extreme run. At 17:00 h sharp on November 12, 300 athletes will compete on the stairs of the signature building.

After the success of the first edition of UBB Vertical Run in 2018, this year the untraditional race will once again offer the extreme runners, who will be divided in 3 categories, the opportunity to distinguish themselves. In the Pro category, at the start there will be professional racers, while the amateurs will be competing in the OPEN category. TEAM BLUE is reserved for employees of KBC Group companies in Bulgaria (UBB, DZI, UBB Interlease and UBB’s subsidiaries). There are monetary prizes for the winners in each group and the top 10 finalists will receive non-monetary awards.

All who are interested can register at the following link: https://drace.bg/ubbverticalrun. Only 2 days after the start of the registration process, the number of applicants exceeds 100. There are no limitations in terms of the participants’ age or experience. The only things that matter are the desire, the motivation and the positive attitude.

UBB Vertical Run also expects unconventional runners, who will join in for the fun factor. In the previous edition of the race, a strong impression was made by the youngest and the oldest participant, Elanda Jones (9 years) and Boyka Arsova (68 years), who - as luck would have it - turned out to be grandmother and granddaughter. A mixed team of a father with his barely 9-month old son was met with applause by everyone present. The youngest participant Preslav Krastev raced in the hands of his father Aleksandar Krastev.

UBB Vertical Run is a part of KBC Group's long-term policy for environmental conservation, reduction of the negative impact on climate and encouraging a healthier lifestyle. The race is organized for the purpose of motivating more people to use alternative means of movement.
