A record number of 154 competitors took part in the fourth edition of the UBB Tennis Tournament - 52 men's doubles and 25 mixed doubles. Vanya Zhelyazkova and Vladislav Iskrenov in the mixed doubles and Kristiyan Gerassimov and Sarkis Kharalampiev in the men's doubles are the big winners in the amateur tennis tournament of UBB, which took place over the weekend at the National UBB Tennis Centre in Borisova Gradina Park. The champions received their awards from Peter Andronov - CEO of KBC's International Markets Business Unit and Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of UBB and DZI.
The finals in both formats were played on the centre court of the tennis complex on Sunday afternoon, with great spectator interest and perfect weather conditions. In men's doubles, Gerassimov and Kharalampiev defended their title from last year, defeating Vesselin Trifonov and Grigor Shopov in the final. In the mixed doubles, tournament debutants Vanya Zhelyazkova and Vladislav Iskrenov beat last year's champions Ventzislav Todorov and Nadezhda Simova. The chief umpire was Milena Kotzeva.
From the UBB team, Iva Dardanova from the Banking Services and Operations Directorate, who played together with her partner Nayden Zhekov, went the farthest in the scheme. The two advanced to the semi-finals, losing to last year's winners.
The UBB tournament is free to participate in and is open to bank employees, partners, customers and friends.
