The young start of Bulgarian tennis and UBB and Mastercard ambassador Ivan Ivanov has qualified for the quarter finals at the international men’s tournament in Taragona (Spain). The leader in the junior global ranking played another strong match in a row and within only one hour and 21 minutes eliminated the Spaniard Lucca Helguera with 6:1, 7:5.

Ivan needed only 10 minutes on the court to lead with 3:0 in the first set. Over the whole set he lost only four points during his serving and dominated in all indicators.

In the second set Ivanov had to catch up with 1:5, but he saved three set balls upon the initial strike of his opponent and yet another one in the next game. He made a breakthrough again upon 3:5 and crushed his opponent by allowing him to win only four points till the end of the match.

For Ivan the quarter final is the third one in men’s tournaments for 2026, and he is also going to play on Friday against the winner in the match between the Spaniards Tomas Curras and Oscar Gutierrez.

UBB and Mastercard support Ivanov and the 18-year-old Alexander Vasilev during an extremely important period for their breakthrough in men’s tennis. This partnership will enable the young tennis players to participate in as maximum number of tournaments as possible.
