On 28.01.2026 there was a ceremony held at Intercontinental Hotel in Sofia city, at which the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry distinguished the companies with the largest contribution to the development of the bilateral economic relations between Bulgaria and Germany in 2025. The prestigious event was carried out with the support of UBB, traditionally being a general sponsor of the event.

In his address to the Chamber representatives and the guests at the event Dobromir Dobrev, Executive Director Corporate Banking and Markets, emphasized that UBB considered that partnership a strategic one. „Much has been said about the role of German businesses in terms of investments in this country, about the role of German companies as employers and as a driver of the development of Bulgaria’s economy, and I would add that we also assess this partnership through the prism of shared standards about high efficiency, digitalization and innovations, corporate social responsibility, and to us this means a lot“.

On UBB’s behalf Dobromir Dobrev, jointly with the Chamber President, Dr. Horst Stüer, presented the award in the Small and Medium Enterprise, with an  Emphasis on Innovation category to El Kontrol company for the overall project for modernization of the urban lighting in Stara Zagora town.

Winners in the other two categories were Festo Bulgaria, taking the prize for a Large Enterprise with an Emphasis on Innovations (electronics) and ConverterTec Bulgaria - in the Sustainable Development of the Human Capital category.

The ceremony was honoured by Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria over the 2012-2017 period, Mr. Doncho Barbalov, Deputy Minister of the Economy and Industry, Mr. Vassil Terziev, Mayor of Sofia, representatives of institutions, local government, companies, Chamber members, journalists and guests. Host of the ceremony was Kristina Baksanova - Editor-in-Chief of bTV Novinite’s international department.
