UBB will switch payment systems in connection with the changeover to the euro
18 Decempber 2025
In connection with the changeover to the euro on 1 January 2026, UBB is taking all necessary technical and organisational measures for a smooth and secure switchover of its payment systems.
The changeover will cover all channels and services, including:
- POS terminals
- Virtual POS terminals
- ATMS
The systems will be gradually adapted and tested so that customers and trading partners can make payments and transactions without difficulties after the introduction of the euro.
A technical outage of the systems is planned from 21:00 on 31.12.2025 until 01:00 on 01.01.2026, during this period Physical, Virtual POS Terminals and ATMs will not be operational.
UBB recommends its customers and merchants to plan their transactions in advance.
Detailed information, instruction and actions you must necessarily follow:
Physical POS:
1. POS terminals will be temporarily closed from 21:00 on 31.12.2025 to 01:00 on 01.01.2026.
- On your last working day, the terminal must send an automatic daily report. If necessary, sending the transaction file can also be done manually by a responsible employee at the facility.
- If your last business day is 12/31/2025, you must send the daily report manually no later than 8:45 p.m. on that day.
No transactions will be accepted after the report is submitted until the Bank's systems are fully restored after 1:00 a.m. on 01/01/2026.
It is mandatory that the POS terminals remain connected to the power supply after the last working day.
This is necessary both to ensure that the daily statements can be sent automatically and that the new euro parameters can be received after 01.01.2026.
In the event that the steps above cannot be completed and you experience difficulties in the process of manually sending a file before and after the Euro conversion, assistance can be obtained from the Bank's Contact Centre on 0700 117 17 (option 4 for merchants with POS).
Please ensure that all reporting procedures are completed in a timely manner to ensure a smooth transition to working with the single European currency.
