The Applied Data and Analytical Modelling (ADAM) unit in UBB and DZI currently requires a Data Scientist to help further the company’s goals in delivering a complete data driven experience to its customers. ADAM provides bespoke, project-based, data science services to all business units in the company. The successful candidate will join an exciting and growing area within the company and will collaborate internationally with other Data Scientists to the benefit of the local entity. The team is responsible for among other things:

· Development, Deployment and Maintenance of predictive and analytical models to solve business problems;
· Data mining of large datasets to develop insights and drive actions;
· Deliver high profile analytics projects following through the full end to end process;
· Driving overall performance by informing KPIs and ensuring strategies are backed by robust analytics;
· Data Innovation and thought leadership / evangelization of new technologies and techniques;

 
The UBB/DZI ADAM Team is one of six ADAM entities within KBC Group, totaling about 100 Data Scientists who collaborate and develop cutting edge AI solutions for deployment in Ireland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria.

The successful candidate will have opportunity to work very closely with these teams on these types of projects. At the same time, a key focus of the ADAM Team is outreach to universities in all countries where we operate. We have a growing portfolio of >15 patents or patents pending internationally, and recently started a spin-off company to commercialize our AI products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage predicative analytics projects from business understanding to results generation and full deployment;

· Apply data mining, statistics and machine learning to understand customer behavior and predict future patterns;

· Inform the business of customer insights and deliver recommendations to drive the business forward;

· Manage relevant stakeholders to ensure an optimum result of business outcomes;

· Participates in monitoring and evaluation of performance of existing models;

· Collaborate with one of the largest Data Science teams in Europe in academic and commercial projects to maximize positive impact on UBB, DZI and their customers.

THE PERFECT CANDIDATE HAS:

· Developed a passion for learning new skills and a keen interest in the AI community;

· Academic background and/ or practical experience with statistical and machine learning models and their application;

· Demonstrated understanding of statistical methods and the relevant tools and techniques;

· Great technical skills – SQL and Python for data analysis is essential. SPARK and AWS experience an advantage;

· Experience handling multiple projects and stakeholders;

· A strong commercial acumen and ability to self start;

· An ability to critically evaluate and find flaws in existing data science solutions;

· Related experience in retail, a financial or insurance institution is a distinct advantage;

· Very good command of English, both spoken and written.
