We are looking for a seasoned and forward thinking Head of IT Platforms Department to lead the strategic development and operational excellence of UBB’s IT platforms and infrastructure. This role requires strong technical expertise, a modern engineering mindset, and the leadership capability to guide teams through digital transformation, modernization, and cloud ready architectures.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of IT management experience with proven leadership in infrastructure, platforms, or DevOps teams.
- Solid understanding of enterprise platform operations including:
- Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
- Public or hybrid cloud principles (Azure, AWS, or GCP preferred)
- Virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) and server infrastructure
- Monitoring, observability, and SRE practices
- Hands‑on exposure or architectural understanding of microservices, service mesh, reverse proxies/load balancers, and secure communication patterns.
- Strong people management, coaching, and performance evaluation skills
- Exceptional communication, analytical thinking, and decision‑making
- Ability to work effectively in high‑pressure, mission‑critical environments
- High level of accountability, problem‑solving capability, and adaptability
- Good command of English
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the end to end lifecycle management of mission critical platforms across the bank, including architecture strategy, upgrades, scalability, and reliability.
• Drive modernization initiatives such as platform containerization, microservices adoption, infrastructure-as-code, and hybrid cloud enablement.
• Design and oversee platform architectures supporting high availability, disaster recovery, zero downtime deployments, and continuous resilience improvements.
• Oversee container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar enterprise systems.
• Guide the team on building cloud ready services, container registries, secrets storage, and secure workload configurations.
• Oversee all integrations between banking systems, including API-based, message-driven, ESB, ETL, and batch processes.
• Ensure secure, scalable, and standardized integration patterns.
• Ensure all platforms comply with cybersecurity standards, internal IT controls, audit expectations, and local regulatory requirements.
• Oversee vulnerability management, patching cycles, and security hardening initiatives.
• Partner with Cybersecurity and Risk teams to ensure full traceability, monitoring, and incident readiness.
• Manage internal and external resources across traditional, agile, and hybrid delivery models.
• Establish transparent communication with senior management and other IT departments regarding platform health, capacity, risks, and improvement plans.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, innovation, and operational discipline.
